You are handpicked.

You are Handpicked by God

You are Handpicked by God

You are handpicked.
You are handpicked by God.

“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;”

(Deuteronomy 7:6-9, KJV)

Your Heavenly Father takes a keen interest in you. He makes time for you every day. You are special to Him. Many people might exhibit better qualities than you can. They might have superior abilities to yours. They may seem to be the A-grade while you might see yourself as C-grade. Everything may be going against you.

It matters not how you see yourself or how others perceive you, the Lord God takes fondness of you. He has noticed you. He notices you every day.

We have probably heard it said before that â€œbeauty lies in the eyes of the beholder”. That has some truth in it, as it matters not how much you may adorn yourself if someone does not have an eye for you they will not notice you and your great efforts.

The same was the case for Israel and us too in this day and age. It is not anything that we have done, are doing or can do that will make the Lord God notice us. Our efforts to catch His attention are detestable to Him.

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

(Ephesians 2:8-9, KJV)

That being the case, we need to ask ourselves the all-important question, “what then will cause the Lord God to take a keen interest in me?” The Psalmist David, asks this question when they say,

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?”

(Psalm 8:4, KJV)

Is there a reason for the Lord God to take notice of us? In many instances, we find ourselves falling short when we measure how worthy of the love of the Lord we are. Therefore, there is no way that we can impress him by our own making; we cannot sway His emotions to go in our favour.

Our opening text shows clearly that you are handpicked by God…

“The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:”

It shows that nothing they could do neither their status quo could earn them the Lord’s affection. They were disqualified on every front; aren’t we all though?

However, that passage continues…

“But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”

This verse opens up with an emphasis that it is all because of Him. He chose to love us and to be faithful. He handpicked us so that He can show Himself faithful to you and me. The Bible here shows us that we are instruments for His glory.

“And do not give your bodies to sin as the instruments of wrongdoing, but give yourselves to God, as those who are living from the dead, and your bodies as instruments of righteousness to God.”

(Romans 6:13, BBE)

We are His creation, we are vessels in His house, child of the Lord God; we are instruments for His pleasure and glory. He has handpicked us to show Himself off. With that established, it is upon us to ensure we are the right candidates for the job. We must find out how to be the first choice instruments for His pleasure.

Romans 6:13, immediately above, gives us the road map. It shows that we must:

-Keep our bodies AWAY from sin.

-YIELD ourselves and our bodies to the Lord God.

The common factor in this verse is “our bodies”. We must note that the body is important to the Lord God because it is the houses the spirit of a person, and the soul. These two are critical in what will result in a person’s life. What we will turn out to be and our end will be channelled through the spirit and the soul.

The spirit of a person is what the Lord God breathed into the nostrils of Adam and he became a living being.

“And the Lord God made man from the dust of the earth, breathing into him the breath of life: and man became a living soul.”

(Genesis 2:7, KJV)

The spirit is the point of contact that the Lord God uses to fellowship with man. He reveals Himself to us via our spirits.

“But God has given us the revelation of these things through his Spirit, for the Spirit makes search into all things, even the deep things of God. For who has knowledge of the things of a man but the spirit of the man which is in him? in the same way, no one has knowledge of the things of God but the Spirit of God. But we have not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which comes from God, so that we may have knowledge of the things which are freely given to us by God.”

(I Corinthians 2:10-12, BBE)

The soul is where we will and emotions are housed. This is a vital element of our being because even though the Lord is a jealous God, He still will not force His will on us.

“For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:”

(Exodus 34:14, KJV)

My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law.”

(Psalm 119:109, KJV)

Child of the Lord God, our duty is to make sure that our spirits worship Him alone, and our souls are aligned to Him to be able to obey His will. When this is true in our lives, the Lord will be pleased in us to show forth and show off.

We are handpicked by the Lord God so that we may be instruments for His pleasure. You are handpicked.

Blessings.
